Wet Tropics and Crocodiles Private Tour

Experience the ancient rainforests and wildlife of Tropical North Queensland. This private tour takes you to the oldest continuously surviving rainforest on earth, offers close encounters with Australian crocodiles, and includes a scenic cruise on the Daintree River.

1. Mossman Gorge Park

Nestled in the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge contains the oldest, continuously surviving rainforest on earth. Just one hectare of this 120,000-hectare forest can contain over 30,000 species of plants and animals. Considered by many to be the evolutionary cradle for much of Australia’s plant and wildlife species, the forest has managed to survive for over 135 million years.

While in Mossman Gorge Park, you have the opportunity to swim in the pristine, crystal-clear waters of the Mossman River (weather permitting). (Note: A shuttle bus is required to access the gorge, approx. $15 per adult).

2. Hartley's Crocodile Adventures

We will visit this famous wildlife park where you will have a private experience. Included is a boat cruise on the wetlands to spot the crocodiles lurking in the murky waters below. Watch them leap from Hartley's Lagoon to grab food dangled from a pole on the side of the boat.

Beyond crocodiles, you will see other iconic animals here including kangaroos, koalas, reptiles, quolls, parrots, jabirus, and cassowaries.

3. Daintree River Cruise

Your cruise will take you along sections of this spectacular waterway. Your guide will point out wildlife and flora along the foreshore and creeks, interpreting the importance of this amazing World Heritage location.

The Daintree River is the habitat of an extensive array of wildlife, many of which are endemic to this ecosystem. It is also the home of the estuarine (saltwater) crocodile, often seen on these cruises. Look out for other reptiles, rare birds, flying foxes, and beautiful butterflies.

The Wet Tropics World Heritage Region is home to: 26% of Australia's frogs, 17% of its reptiles, 58% of its butterflies, 30% of marsupial species, and 48% of its birds.
