An Unforgettable NSW Road Trip

This tour is designed for active tourists who love travelling by car. Explore the East Coast of Australia from Sydney to Mystery Bay before heading into the Snowy Mountains to explore Mt Kosciuszko, Yarrangobilly Caves, and Canberra. Cover 1500 kilometres in 5 days with guaranteed wild kangaroo encounters.

We have adapted itineraries for seniors or families with small kids.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Sydney to the South Coast (~300 km)

Key Experiences: Kiama Blowhole, Hyams Beach, Wild Kangaroos at Sunset
  • Pick-up from Sydney and travel south, stopping at Sublime Point lookout.
  • Visit the Nan Tien Buddhist temple (optional) and the famous Kiama Blowhole.
  • See giant pelicans and stroll through the Minnamurra Rainforest.
  • Visit Hyams Beach, known for its incredibly white sand.
  • Stop overnight in Batemans Bay and enjoy a sunset with wild kangaroos at Pebbly Beach.

Day 2: South Coast to the Snowy Mountains (~200 km)

Key Experiences: Mystery Bay, Central Tilba, Snowy Mountains Highway
  • After breakfast, continue along the coast, visiting Dalmeny, Corunna Lake, and Mystery Bay.
  • Stop for lunch in the historical town of Central Tilba.
  • Travel on the Snowy Mountains Highway towards Cooma for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Mt Kosciuszko Experience (~200 km)

Key Experiences: Mt Kosciuszko Summit, Snowy Mountains, Thredbo/Perisher
  • Travel into the Snowy Mountains for the day's adventure.
  • Summer (Nov-May): Hike to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, Australia's highest peak.
  • Winter (Jul-Sep): Enjoy a snow encounter at Perisher ski resort.
  • Stop in Berridale town overnight.

Day 4: Caves, Lakes & Canberra (~350 km)

Key Experiences: Yarrangobilly Caves, Thermal Pool, Tumut River
  • After breakfast, travel to Yarrangobilly Caves.
  • Explore the magnificent caves and relax in the thermal pool, naturally heated to 27°C year-round.
  • Travel for lunch by the magnificent Tumut River Lake, often with kangaroos nearby.
  • Continue to Canberra for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Canberra Exploration & Return to Sydney (~300 km)

Key Experiences: War Memorial, Parliament House, Mt Ainslie Lookout
  • Explore Canberra's key attractions, including the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House.
  • Take in the terrific view of the city from the summit of Mt Ainslie.
  • Drive through the embassy district to see diverse international architecture.
  • Visit the historic country town of Goulburn before the 2-hour drive back to Sydney, arriving around 7 pm.
