🚙 Private Tours, Pricing & Booking
Are your tours completely private or will we share the bus with strangers?
All our standard tours are 100% strictly private. We never mix groups. The luxury vehicle and your expert local guide are dedicated exclusively to you, your family, or your friends, ensuring a true VIP experience where you set the pace.
Do you charge per person or per vehicle?
Unlike most big bus companies, we offer honest per-vehicle pricing starting from $600 AUD. This means you pay a flat rate for the private use of our luxury vehicle and guide. For families and groups, this is often up to 40% cheaper than buying standard per-person tickets!
Can we customize our itinerary?
Absolutely! While we offer over 30 signature itineraries (the largest selection in Sydney), they are completely flexible. Because the tour is private, you can spend more time at places you love, skip the ones you don't, or ask your guide to show you our secret local spots.
Where do your tours start? Do you offer hotel or airport pick-up?
We offer seamless door-to-door service. We will pick you up directly from your Sydney CBD hotel, the Cruise Ship Terminal, or even the Sydney Airport. Just let us know your location when booking, and we handle the rest.
How much experience do your tour guides have?
Sydney Private Guided Tours was established in 2006. Our team brings over 20 years of professional local guiding experience. We don't read from scripts; we are passionate storytellers who love sharing Australia's rich history, nature, and culture.
Are meals and attraction tickets included in the price?
To keep our base prices fair and give you maximum flexibility, meals and third-party attraction tickets (like zoo entry or boat cruises) are not included. However, we provide complimentary bottled water in the car, and our guides know the absolute best local restaurants and cafes to suit your taste and budget. We can also help arrange discounted attraction tickets!
Do you provide child seats?
Yes! We are a very family-friendly company. We provide up to two baby or booster seats absolutely FREE of charge. Please make sure to request them during the booking process so we can install them before picking you up.
How much does a private tour guide cost in Sydney?
Our private tours start from $600 AUD for a half-day (4 hours) and from $1000 AUD for a full day (8 hours). This is a per-vehicle price that covers the luxury vehicle, fuel, and your personal guide. Groups of 2-7 people often save 30-40% compared to buying individual tickets on standard bus tours.
Is the Blue Mountains worth a day trip from Sydney?
Absolutely! The Blue Mountains is one of Sydney's most popular day trips. Located just 90 minutes west of Sydney, the UNESCO World Heritage area offers spectacular canyon views, ancient rainforest walks, and stunning waterfalls. On a private tour, you can avoid the crowds and visit hidden lookouts that big bus tours skip entirely.
Where can I see wild kangaroos near Sydney?
Wild kangaroos can be spotted in several locations within 50-100 km of Sydney. Our Wildlife & Aboriginal Culture Tour visits secret bushland spots where mobs of kangaroos graze freely at dawn. We have a 90% success rate of wild kangaroo sightings. You can also hand-feed friendly kangaroos at the Australian Reptile Park during the same tour.
What happens if it rains on the day of our tour?
Our tours go ahead in all weather conditions. Because you travel in a luxury private vehicle, rain rarely affects the experience. In fact, many locations like the Blue Mountains and South Coast rainforests are even more magical in the rain with waterfalls at their most spectacular. Your guide will adjust the itinerary to make the most of the conditions.
Do you offer tours for cruise ship passengers?
Yes! We specialize in shore excursions for cruise ship passengers. We pick you up directly at the Overseas Passenger Terminal (Circular Quay) or White Bay Cruise Terminal, keep your luggage safely stored in our vehicle, and guarantee to return you to your ship on time. We offer 4-hour and 8-hour shore excursion options.
Can I combine a Hunter Valley wine tour with Port Stephens dolphins?
Yes! We offer a popular 2-Day Hunter Valley & Port Stephens combo tour that combines wine tasting at premium Hunter Valley wineries with dolphin watching and sand dune adventures at Port Stephens. This is one of our most requested multi-day experiences.
🎧 Sydney Self-Guided Audio Tour Web App
What is the Sydney Self-Guided Audio Tour Web App?
It is the world's first fully functional Self-Guided Audio Tour Web App built as a web page. GPS-triggered narration plays automatically for 150+ Sydney attractions as you walk, drive, or cycle. There is nothing to download from an App Store — you just open the link in any browser. See full details on the product page.
Do I need to download an app from the App Store?
No. The whole tour runs inside your phone, tablet, or car-dashboard browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. After purchase you receive a single activation link by email. Tap it once, and you are in the tour.
Will it work in my rental car, Tesla, BMW or Polestar?
Yes. The Web App runs in the built-in browser of Tesla, BMW, Mercedes and Polestar dashboards, as well as on every iPhone and Android phone. As long as the device can open a normal web page and has GPS, the tour works.
How does the GPS auto-play actually work?
As you approach each attraction (within roughly 35 to 100 metres depending on speed), the audio plays automatically. No buttons to press. We also use bearing detection so narration only fires when you are facing the right direction — saving you from hearing about a landmark you just passed.
Can I use it for walking, or is it only for drivers?
Both. The Web App is designed for walking, driving, cycling, taxis and even ferry rides. Trigger radii adapt automatically to your speed. Slow walkers get tight 35 m radii; drivers get wider 100 m radii so the audio starts before you whoosh past.
How many attractions are included and how long is the commentary?
150+ Sydney attractions with over 10 hours of original commentary — covering history, beaches, wildlife, shopping, hidden photo spots, and waterfront landmarks. Filter by theme or follow the pre-loaded optimal full-day route. See the free 5-minute demo first if you want.
How long does my access last after purchase?
Three tiers: Starter (1-day access, $35 AUD), Explorer (3-day access, $49 AUD — best value for tourists), and Professional Driver (30-day access, $255 AUD — for tour drivers and chauffeurs). All include the full 150+ attractions library. Buy here.
Do I need internet during the tour?
Yes — Sydney CBD has full 4G and 5G coverage, and audio streams from our server as you approach each landmark. The web page itself loads once and stays loaded. We do not require a separate download because the audio is fetched on demand only for the landmarks you actually reach.
How is this Web App different from other Sydney audio-tour apps?
Five differences: (1) Built as a web page — no App Store, no download, no account. (2) Direction-aware narration (you only hear about what you can actually see). (3) Non-stop Australia podcast plays between landmarks so there is never silence. (4) Works on Tesla / BMW / Polestar / Mercedes car-dashboard browsers. (5) Built and narrated by Andrew Sorokin, licensed Sydney guide since 2006. Read the full comparison.
Can I add the Web App commentary to my airport or cruise transfer?
Yes — for +A$35 the audio commentary plays through the car speakers during your transfer, and you keep 1-day access on your phone afterwards. Available on both the Sydney Airport pickup and Sydney Cruise Port pickup booking forms.
